Reminder:  Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructors may also teach Heartsaver classes.  

Below are the following steps to becoming an AHA Instructor:

1. Have current AHA BLS provider certification and be proficient in all the skills of that discipline.  You must present your provider certificate before attending this class.  Email to CPR@IdahoAcademy.com
2. Complete the online BLS Instructor Essentials Course-This is an additional charge that will be paid directly to the AHA. https://shopcpr.heart.org/bls-instructor-essentials-online. This online portion is required to be completed before this classroom instructor class. 
3. Successfully be monitored teaching your first course within six months of completing the discipline-specific classroom Instructor Course. This is typically done on the same day of your course.

Once you become an Instructor, you will have access to the most current emergency cardiovascular care science, course updates, training resources, and tools through the online AHA Instructor Network.

Fee:  Includes classroom portion, first-class monitoring, instructor eCard, and 1st year of alignment fee.  

Time:  Approximately 5-hour initial classroom and 3 - 4 hour class observation within 6 months.

Certification:  2 years

Testing:  Skills Check-off and open resource written test required
